Sustainable Swap! Thrifting for Mason Jars

Sustainable Swap! Thrifting for Mason Jars

SUSTAINABLE SWAP/ THRIFT FINDS! Let’s talk about mason jars! We know glass is more sustainable than plastic. With a pretty much indefinite shelf life and option to recycle, buying glass jars/containers instead of plastic ones is a simple swap to help reduce your waste and plastic consumption. Now, one of my favorite topics, thrifting! I bought most of these jars pictured to store my bulk food in, (nuts, seeds, oats, rice, etc..) and found a couple with straw hole tops that I can use for drinking ware (score🤘)! Mason jars and pretty inexpensive to purchase brand new in bulk, BUT there are already TONS of mason jars out there on thrift store shelves! I see glassware and mason jars at liturally every thrift store I visit, and most of these pictured here I got for only .50 cents! When it comes to swapping out your non sustainable kitchenware to a more sustainable option, or anything for that matter (clothing, toys, decor etc) check out your local thrift store first before deciding to purchase brand new. By reusing what’s already out there and buying second hand you are reducing waste…..how? because you’re not contributing to the production of brand new items. I think buying second hand is one of the easiest ways to reduce, reuse and SAVE MONEY. If it’s destine for a landfill anyway, why not give it a second life first!
